Proteus is always looking for writers, photographers, videographers, artists, and other creative individuals to submit timely and compelling stories about the ocean and climate change.
Proteus’s articles are intended for a broad audience. Consequently, writers should clearly outline for their readers the broad implications of their story: why does this topic matter to someone from outside this field of research? Why should the public be excited about this project?
Descriptions of how the work is being done are also encouraged: many of our readers have a background in Earth sciences. That being said, writers should avoid jargon and uncommon terms—even researchers from another field may be unfamiliar with highly technical language. As a digital publication, we can add context and deeper definitions via hyperlinks when relevant; this can help avoid getting bogged down with technical jargon.
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit, actively searching for funding. If you are interested in volunteering for Proteus, please drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org
